Accountability is one of the most difficult things to do when you need to be accountable to yourself. Quite often we become upset when we feel others let us down, yet when we do it to ourselves we simply brush it aside. How can that be? How can we place more emphasis on the accountability of others, when we are incapable of being accountable to ourselves? Sometimes we hold grudges, retaliate, and even disassociate ourselves with those who let us down. So why don’t we hold ourselves to the same standard?
Learn to make yourself accountable to you. Incorporate self-management and discipline into your own life first. Make yourself accountable for what you do and how you spend your time.
When you start the process of being accountable to yourself, you will begin to recognize how much you may have let yourself down in the past. It is all too easy to break a promise to yourself rather than to others. Do not fall into that trap. This is an opportunity to prioritize your dreams and change your life.
